This port was the first of its kind to be built in the Canary Islands and is divided into two adjoining basins between which there is a beach. Altogether there are up to 530 moorings, of which more than 300 are in Puerto Base, the newest dock, with its 300-metre breakwater. Access from the sea is easy. The port offers a wide range of water sports all year round and serves as a nautical base for deep-sea fishing. The maritime environment is of great ecological value, with whale watching being one of its main attractions.
